Fourteen years ago I wrote up how to
configure Kmail with IMAP. For the past few years I have been using the Outlook web interface, but somewhere in the past 12 months a new version got installed. And it is so full of problems. So, looking again for alternatives, and the last thing I tried was
Thunderbird. Not perfect, but it beats having to reload the full web interface after each single download.
It smoothly found the right settings by using the account with the @unimaas.nl domain name, just like fourteen years ago. Kudos to UM ICTS.
Just right after it detected the IMAP and SMTP settings, follow the Advanced settings and there use the @maastrichtuniversity.nl ending in the account name, and enjoy IMAP on the desktop.
